How to Pause the Timeline on both the Base layer and on a second layer

Jun 27, 2018

Hi all,

I hope i can get some help on this one...

I have a course were i want to give the user the possibility to select between two VO languages A and B. Each Language consists of several VO files.

I added the VO files on two separate layers A and B. When the time line starts on the Base layer i have a trigger that show the selected language layer depending on a Variable that is set to language A or B.

Seeking is OFF on the layers, which will give me the possibility to pause and start the base layer.

The problem is that when i pause the base layer the VO continuous on the language layer....

Is there any way to pause the timeline on both the Base Layer and my language layers?

Thasnks for your help :-)

This can work by variables and master slides, if you make your custom player controls. Here's how I do it.

1. Create the Pause/Play button in "Slide Master" (F4), there's no fix way to do this, as long as you can create trigger responses based on click and have Pause/Play visually respond to the click in alternation.

2. The pause/resume timeline triggers set on this master slide will affect the base layer of the (story) slide. And your additional (story) slide layers are "mastered" by the "Feedback Master" (F5) instead. To find the associated master slide, just right click on either base layer or layer on the background > Apply Layout. That shows the exact master, and those are the ones you need to edit.

3. In order to pass the same command to the layers, you can bridge them with a single binary variable, i.e. PAUSE=False (default). Finally drop a pair of triggers using this variable to connect to the Pause/Play button clicks. Done.
