Hello everyone!! We're working in a presentation in Artirculate Storyline. When we make a preview of it verything look ok, but when we publishing appears boxex in some images. We dont understand why in some and why not in others.
We create a slide Maters and insert the pictures. We use the same system all the time.
These images do not appear to have a transparent background, so I would check the image file type. Image file formats like PNG and GIF can support a transparent background.
When I work with images like these and I have for example a JPG image, I convert it to PNG and use a (free) program called Paint.Net to make the background transparent.
Could you upload on of these images for me to look at?
Are you using the 2 images above in your course(s) as is?
Are you saying that in preview mode, you don't see the boxes (surrounding each image), but when publishing you do? I can't see how that's possible. If you're looking to remove those boxes then use, like Dave says, something like Paint.Net or even better, GIMP. The former is much more simple to use whereas the latter is more complex but offers greater functionality. GIMP is also excellent for editing and sorting out transparencies.
All the image we have in the presentatio are JPG. Hundred of them!! :( So, the image appears with the box. We tried changing to PNG and it's work. The problem now is, the time wasted because the only solution we know is; we have to save again one by one all the image like PNG and insert them again into the presentation. And link them again to other slides we had before, cause the link is lost.
It coul be nice to have a system inside articulate storyline that change the file type inside the presentation. Does it exist? Thanks!!
can you see. We know now thanks to you both that it about de file type. But we love it if anyone knows a system to change into presentation the file type. Cause we have to save one by one (of hundred) insert again like PNG and link again :(
You should be able to batch process the images to convert them to PNGs (there's a free plugin for Paint.Net here - http://pdnbulkupdater.codeplex.com/)
and then from your existing Storyline file - right click on an image and then select 'Change picture' to update the old picture to the new one.
Sorry, but I can't think of a faster way to do this.
You're going to have to manually edit each image so as to remove the boxes/shading and therefore create a new set of JPGs (or PNGs if you need actual transparency) . You'll then be able to "change picture" ...
Clipping Magic is an online app that enables you to crop out the 'stuff' you don't want in an image. Quick and easy to use - although some images might take more time to get right if they're more complex.
Here's an example of one of your images run through CM in a few seconds ...
Sorry to hear about the trouble with your images, but I'm glad that Simon, Michael and Dave were able to point you in the right direction regarding using a different file type that allows for transparency and sharing the link to submit a feature request.

But thanks a lot for your answers.
Hi Sartia,
Don't think that you can do it within Storyline.
Another option...
Right click on the picture in your project
Save as - and select PNG
Right click again
and select 'Change picture'
Select the picture that you just saved as a PNG
You're going to have to manually edit each image so as to remove the boxes/shading and therefore create a new set of JPGs (or PNGs if you need actual transparency) . You'll then be able to "change picture" ...

Thanks a lot, really!!
We're crying because changing each image it will be more than 16 hours per presentation O_o And we have 3 presentation!!
But thank you. Maybe storyline can put a menu saying: click here if you want to change all the image to png
In which case you'll need to make a feature request.
