How to renumber slides without moving them around?

Sep 21, 2017

Hi Storyliners!

Now, I'm sure this question has been answered a dozen times but I'm having a tough time finding a workaround? Its to do with the slide ordering.

We decided to move the slides around after they were designed and now it jumps about in the menu - confusing the users who will navigate via the side menu!

Q - How can I renumber the (now rearranged) slides so they run in numerical order?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Ripple,

There's a solution already shared by Bret which I believe will answer your question:

"From within the Player, you can use the "Reset from story" button at the very bottom of the Menu tab to reset the menu from the Story".

You can go to this thread for more information.

Further you may also find this another thread helpful.

Hi Jenny

Thanks for the reply but apologies, I wasn't clear:

What I meant was I just wanted to renumber some slides but leave the slides where they currently are?

I added an attachment (a.jpg) of the 6 slide numbers i wanted to change.

So for example:

4.17 Other attachment techniques

should read:

4.13 Other attachment techniques

Thanks, R

(p.s. I did try the workaround you posted and it just put everything into number order, rather than leave the slides in place - see attachment b.jpg)

Be very careful of this.

If you move the 3rd slide under the 1st slide, it will change its number to the next number in sequence.  BUT if your triggers call for jump to next slide, the navigation sequence will also be disrupted. Sometimes that will happen even if the triggers call for jump to slide by name.

Only play with this after making a backup.
