How to replay animation in a slide?

Nov 01, 2013

I have a slide with a complex animation (containing about 15 objects). I want to add a button that lets the user replay the animation (or replay the slide, or reset the timeline - anything like that). I can't find a trigger that will work for this. Any suggestions?

I've uploaded a .story file with an example of what I'm trying to accomplish.

Thanks for any help!

This solution does work but is inelegant to say the least. For example it needs an absolute link so won't work on a Master slide. A 'Restart Timeline' trigger would help enormously. We have a 'Pause Timeline' and a 'Resume Timeline' so a 'Restart Timeline would be an obvious addition (unless I'm missing something).

And yes Leslie....I'll add as a feature request :-)

Hi Michael,

This thread is a bit older, and there isn't a "replay slide" trigger - so I'm not sure which part you're referring to also not working on slide layers? The animations will play on the objects entrance or exit - so you'd have to be seeing them appear/disappear to allow for the animation to replay and therefore likely leaving the slide layer.

This is the first time I have used an SL 360 slide inserted into Rise. I have a single slide with a simple animation built in Storyline 360. A bar chart. I plan to insert it into a course built using Rise. How do I reset the animation so that the next time that it is accessed it will reset? I used the Modern player with no navigation buttons. Can I put in a button the user can click to reset it? What is the general practice for this?

Hi LaVon

you should be able to set the slide to 'reset to initial' state in SL before you publish and insert it into Rise.  That way each time it is viewed it should restart.

If you mean you want the user to be able to restart it within the same Rise session (so watch it again) then I would add a Restart button on the SL slide that jumps to itself and plays it again.
