I have created a course with a 10 question quiz at the end where the questions are randomized. On the question slides, I have the variable "Question %questionNumber% of %questionTotal%" so that it reads "Question 1 of 10, Questioon 2 of 10, etc...
I have the option for the user to retake the quiz if the fail it. However, when a user reetakes the quiz, instead of the variable resetting and showing Question 1 of 10, it shows Question 11 of 10.
How do you reset the questionNumber variable when you retake the quiz??
I do this by adding a trigger on teh 'Retry Quiz' button to reset the variable to 1. OnePage is the name of my variable in the examle attached. You need to have this the first trigger on the button so it doens't jump back to the quiz screen before changing the counting variable.
I took a look at this file and it does seem to be working correctly. The trigger to change the variable to 1 is resetting the question count. This should work for you as well Tammy.
Thank you! I am waiting for permission from the course owner to post the story file that I have. Once I receive permission, I will post it.
I could certainly use some feedback on whether I've done this correctly or not. This is my first Storyline course (or any course) that I have created. :-)
Here is a copy of the full Storyline file. I still cannot get the question number to reset when retaking the quiz. I'm sure it's something simple that I missed. (I hope so) :-)
I took a look at the file and updated the variable. The variable you are tracking for the slide numbers is called questionNumber. I made this one reset to 1 when clicking on the Retry button. The number is now resetting for you.
I have one more question for you...... The status sent back to the LMS is "Passed, suspend" or "Incomplete, suspend". How do I remove the "suspend"? I can't figure that one out.
Glad this is working for you. You may want to test your file in the SCORM Cloud to see how the reporting shows up there. If it reporting different, you may need to reach out to your LMS team for assistance, or you can look at the information here regarding troubleshooting LMS.
