How to stop animation when user opens Resource tab/feature

Jul 11, 2013

I have to add some PDF files to the course and want to use the Resource tab/feature. Unfortunately the animation does not stop when the user opens the Resource dropdown. Is there a way to stop the animation whenever the user opens the resource link?

Any other suggestions how to include resources (PDF) and force the animation to stop whenever a resouce is opened?

Welcome to the community, Carsten!

I don't believe there's a way to pause the timeline of the slide when a user accesses the Resources tab, because that tab is actually a part of the player itself. If you'd like to see this type of functionality in Storyline, you're welcome to submit your suggestions or requests

In the meantime, if you only have a few resources or PDF files, perhaps you could create a button or custom drop-down menu in your slide. You could do this in a Master, if you'd like, or have it display in a single slide. When the user clicks on that button or custom menu, you could trigger a "pause" layer. A pause layer can be a completely empty layer, or you can place content on the layer letting the user know that the course has been paused. You can trigger the layer to close when the user returns to the layer and either clicks on the slide, or clicks on a custom button, etc.

Best of luck with the project and welcome again, Carsten!
