How to trigger a state using timing

Hi there,

I know how to change a state by prompting the user to push a button but I would like to know how to change the state of an object (such as a character) at a certain time on the timeline. As of right now the only way I know how to do this is by adding a copying the character changing his state and adding it to a different  row on the timeline. This works but I know there must be an easier and more efficient way. Thanks in advance.

The way you describe is one way to change object states across the timeline. Another is to use an object's timeline (begins/ends) to control other objects.
