How to upload a Articulate output to an App

Sep 29, 2013

Dear friends,

I have a few doubts and clarifications for Articulate Storyline output as given below.

1.Is an Articulate storyline output package compatible with Apps.

2.What are the settings that need to be done to publish an articulate storyline before uploading to an App.

3.How to upload a Articulate Storyline to Apps.

4.To upload a file in Apps, should we zip the output file.

It would be very useful if I can have a detailed step by step procedure to do the above four tasks.

Also please attach a screenshot so that I will be able to follow.

Would be grateful if someone can please help. This is an open question for the entire Articulate user community.

Regards,

Hi Palani,

I'm assuming you're not talking about placing a Storyline course within the Articulate Mobile Player, correct? If so, there are plenty of tutorials available here.

If you're looking to include your Storyline courses within an app you've developed, I'll defer to the community on how they've set that up, but you may want to provide a bit more information about what you're looking to accomplish.

Hi Ashley ,

Thanks for your reply. This was useful. I would also like to know how to include Articulate Storyline output to an App.

I have some queries on this.

1.When we publish the file, is it enough to activate the Mobile Player html 5.

2.When uploading the file should I zip the file and then upload.

Do you have any tutorials on how to upload the file to an app.

Please let me know.

Hi Palani,

If you'd like to publish so that your users can access it via the iPad, you'll want to check the boxes within the publish window that say "Include HTML5 output" and "Use Articulate Mobile Player on iPad" and depending on how your user accesses the content they'll see the content appropriate for them.

You can read about that here. If you publish for the Articulate Mobile Player, your users will be prompted to download the mobile player when accessing the course, and you won't need to specifically publish it to their library. Also, as you'll see in that article if you're tracking the course through an LMS, using the Articulate Mobile Player may not be an option but you could still use the HTML5 output.

Hi Ashley,

I have a problem which follows this thread. I keep receiving a 'Cannot access content' message when i try and open a poject in the iPad mobile app. I've made sure i've checked the correct boxes prior to publishing but consistenly get the error message. Am I doning sonething fundamentally wrong?

Any help you can provide would be brilliant.

Many thanks,

John

Hi John,

Where have you uploaded your course? you'll need to use that link from your LMS or web server to open initially in a mobile browser and then you'll see it open in the app. If you've hosted in your LMS, you'll also need to have published for Tin Can API. Here are some other troubleshooting steps to go through specific to that error message.
