How/Where to obtain activity URIs for XAPI/TinCan Statements
Aug 30, 2017
Hello everyone,
I've just started looking into integrating xAPI statements into my eLearning courses to improve my reporting. Specifically, I want to be able to track clicks on certain buttons or aspects of my courses.
I've been researching into xAPI and always see that each activity needs to have a "URI". I've looked into what a URI is (a url that points to a resource instead of a webpage?) but still have no idea how to create one for a specific activity.
Let's say that a variable changes from 0 to 1 when a learner clicks a button in the course, and I want that value sent to my LRS - how would I find or generate the URI for that activity?
I only have a rudimentary understanding of programming (mostly limited to HTML/CSS), so I am quite lost when reading more technical documents or discussions - I would appreciate any help on the subject!

Articulate has two pretty good starting points to Tin Can and xAPI. Here's one and another.
Barbara, my understanding is that you would make your own unique URI, something that is not an existing webpage, like http://thisawesomeproject.com/variable1
Another button could have a URI like http://thisawesomeproject.com/variable2
