HTML 5 Output and Stage Change

Oct 16, 2014

I am working on a DIP switch emulator which looks fine on a state change when the content is published as a SWF.

However, when I publish to HTML 5, the rectangle disappears on a state change.

Is this a known issue? Is there a workaround?

-Thanks.

Hi Something and welcome to Heroes,

Where are you testing your HTML5 content? You'll want to ensure you're testing the published content within the intended environment as described here and that your using one of the supported browsers mentioned here for HTML5.

You may also want to review the information here in regards to the Flash, HTML5, and mobile player comparison chart here.

I am opening the HTML5 content with Chrome 38+.  If you look at the second image, the rectangle is actually present on switches 1. 3.4. 5 and 6.  It disappears when the state of the object is set to Selected.  This does not happen in the SWF version a screen capture of which has been provided for comparison - meaning that  - that is what it is supposed to look like in the HTML 5 version.

I did look at the references you provided, but don't see anything that would apply to what I have done.  I can put the thing up somewhere if you would like to see inside.   In the meantime, I will try it in other modern browsers, but I doubt it is a browser issue.

Firefox runs the content, and the rectangle shows up, as does the shadow, but the gradient does not render in the Selected state.

The content doesn't run at all in IE9 which is to be expected.

(As a side note, any lines created in PowerPoint that are less than 1 thick do not render.  Additionally, two column text layout doesn't come out right either.)

Hi Something,

It may help if you're able to share a copy of that .story file here with us - you can attach it using the paperclip icon so that we can take a look at how your triggers and states are set up.

Please also confirm that you're working locally as described here. If you've been working on a network or USB drive this could be causing odd issues within your file, and I'd like to have you try importing the file into a new project. It may resolve some odd behavior. If the behavior persists, please let us know if you're able to recreate it on a brand new .story file.

Hi Something,

Thanks for sharing the file here with us. I see the behavior you're mentioning and I'm doing some testing in a new file as well to see how to replicate it and if it occurs with any shapes/buttons that are using a gradient while viewing the HTML5 output.  I will likely be reporting this to our QA team - but wanted to provide a bit of an update here prior to the weekend.
