HTML 5 (SL2): Possible to prevent "pulldown to refresh" in mobile chrome webbrowser?

Mar 06, 2017

Hello fellow heroes

When testing a SL2 HTML5 production I found an issue with almost every mobile Webbrowser:

Pulling down from the top of the page reloads the whole thing, and the eLearning will start over again. - It's simply the default beavior of mobile webbrowsers.

Especially if the user is presented a drag and drop game (drag from top to bottom) he will always be in danger to lose his progress and to start over again.

For some specific reasons I have to stick to SL2 for the next months and not switch to SL360 . So please do not recommennd this to me :-) I know that the responsive player of SL 360 contains a solution for my Problem.

Has anybody experience in fixing this with scripts and/or CSS for SL2 (mobile Chrome, Mozilla and Safari)? - Some hints or code snippets would be very well appreciated.

Hi Victor,

Thanks for reaching out here, and I'm sorry to hear that the mobile browsers are tripping you up with the drag/drops and reloading. I haven't seen a method shared here in ELH to change or modify that behavior, so I'll be curious to see if anyone else in the community is able to chime in and share any information here.

Hi there

I have reformulated my question (see above) and just wanted to inform you that I have found a solution for myself:

The issue with SL2, that the eLearning would reload completely if the student makes a pulldown gesture at top of page is restricted to Google Chrome. Safari and Mozilla don't do this as  a default. This is a show stopper if you want to have drag and drop questions in your training and installing a player  or manually deactivating the relevant flag in chrome is not an option.

SL2: Solution is to insert a CSS style in story_html5.html.

SL360: Specific problem does not occur with mobile Chrome

Have fun
