HTML page covering table of contenst in brower
Jan 29, 2015
We have a storyline course, that as normal has a table of contents on the left hand side. One of the pages in the table of contents has a button that has a hyperlink attached to a HTML page. When activated the HTML page opens in the storyline browser (this is what we want to happen as we have this option activated). The problem we have is that when opened it covers the table of contents i.e. takes up the whole storyline browser, and there is no obvious way to get back without selecting Back, which is not ideal. I would have expected that if it is possible to open a HTML page in the browser of storyline there should be some way of it opening without covering the table of contents. Any suggestions or experience with this would be appreciated.

Hi Alan,
It's covering the normal menu (TOC) that is built in as a part of the player? Did you include it as a hyperlink or as a web object? I know that in Storyline 1, web objects were appear over top of player elements as detailed here.
Hi Ashley, thanks for the help again. I am trying to hyperlink to an external HTML page residing on A shared project drive. I can establish the link OK but when it opens it takes up the entire window and covers the TOC. I am running Storyline 1.
Hi Alan,
Are you inserting it as a web object or just a direct hyperlink? Hyperlinks can be set to open in a new browser window which would cover the main Storyline window or in the same window as detailed here.
Hi Ashley, as a hyperlink to a single HTML page on the c Drive, and it covers the TOC.
Hi Alan,
What settings did you enable as a part of the hyperlink(you can refer to the link I previously shared to see the settings)? Are you testing this within the published output in it's intended environment or testing it locally? You also previously mentioned a shared drive, so I want to ensure that you're working on local project files as detailed here.
Would you be able to share a screenshot of what this looks like or the .story file so that we could take a look?
