Using Storyline 2, update 4 1501.717. I have an .mp4 video in a course slide and publishing out to HTML5. After uploading course to server, video plays in Chrome browsers on Windows 7 Pro OS, though no audio. The only way I was able to get the video to play with audio is to insert the hosted video into the slide as a web object.
Please provide advice as to why the first option doesn't work.
I'm sorry to hear about the odd behavior with your course video. How have you published your course? I assume you're publishing it for web - are you only seeing this behavior in Chrome on a desktop or have you tested the HTML5 output in another environment as well?
Would you be able to share a copy of that video or the slide within the .story file so that we could take a look at it?
The video was originally an .wmv and then converted into .mp4. The video was old, so that might have had something to do with it?
I downloaded a Youtube video as an .mp4 and it played fine with audio in storyline on Google Chrome browser when I published out to HTML5 and hosted it on my server.
Thanks for the update. Without seeing the video it's hard to say but I suspect it may have been an issue with codec or something else within the audio. If you're able to share here we're happy to test it as well.
I'm glad that the YouTube video is working though as that confirms everything is working as expected in Storyline.

Hi Ashley,
It was a codec issue.
I used the program below to convert the video into an mp4 with the H.264 codec and it plays with the audio in HTML5: http://www.any-video-converter.com/html5-video-converter.php
For other people searching this thread, here's some info on the HTML5 video codecs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTML5_video
Glad you were able to figure it out Dan and thanks for sharing those references here as well.
