HTML5 output - how is it?

Aug 08, 2017

How is Storyline 360's HTML5 support these days? I tried Storyline 2's output a couple of years back and it was not good enough to use in production - very buggy, limited browser/os support, etc. Hoping to hear that things have changed?

I cannot speak for the 360 output, but Storyline 3 produces good production ready output. Since Storyline 3 I use the HTML5 with Flash fallback option (for users who have older browsers, that are able to play Flash, but no real HTML5) so most (I hope all) of my users see only HTML5 since then. We have not encountered any problems with that, so I think it is safe to say: Yes, things have changed.

Things have changed! We re-wrote our HTML5 publishing engine for Storyline 360 and Storyline 3, and we're pretty excited about it!

If you’re looking to move from an older version of Storyline to Storyline 3, the things you’ll want to check out specific to HTML5 are:

The new responsive player, which automatically makes your course look great on any phone or tablet

• Better HTML5 output

• And a bunch of productivity enhancements

Check out this comparison of Storyline 1, 2, and 3 for all the details.

Let me know if you need anything else, and definitely take a look at a trial of Storyline 3 or Articulate 360!
