HTML5 problems? Functions not working on publication/upload

Oct 02, 2017

I have serious issues with content not working when published to the web - and the browser defaulting to the story htmls files. Some important functions do not work.

I have started a very simple Articulate Storyline 1 project.  The opening slide has a video clip that should start automatically. There is a button/hot spot to allow the user to click and view a second layer which has contact details of the lead tutor etc.  (When this layer is displayed the timeline of the base layer is paused). On the second layer there is also a button to close and hide that layer, and return to the base layer.    In addition there is a repeating animated symbol to remind the viewr to press 'next' when they are ready, and (a trick I have used before) the slide is duplicated and looped to make the video repeat continuously until the viewer starts the presentation.  Everything works perfectly in preview.  And this system (of looping slides etc.) has worked perfectly before.  Now, on publication and upload to a server, the browser defaults to the HTML5 story files. The video does not play automatically and the hot spot/layer function does not work at all (probably due to the looping not working).  Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Malcolm!

Sorry to hear that you are having difficulty with your project.

The link you shared looks like you are sharing the html5 link with learners, but it also does not work for me.

Here are the instructions for publishing and sharing your Storyline 1 content and we advise sharing the story.html file so that the correct version is displayed as explained here.

If you need us to take a look at the .story file, please feel free to share.
