Picking up on this post as I have h same question, but would like to expand.
Since Storyline will place a copy of each hyperlinked file in your published output. and that all hyperlinked files for a course will be stored in the published folder called story_content/external files, it is not possible to somehow place the other published storyline projects in this folder and reference them, that way, as far as SCORM is concerned, it would all still be self contained.
The reason I ask is that I am producing some software emulations and one project containing all the videos would be massive, whereas if I could split them out, each published sub-project would be smaller and therefore quicker to load/less chance of crashing/corruption etc and could be linked by a single small published introduction project, like branching, but to other published projects. (This can easily be done in Captivate, but would prefer to use Storyline).
