Hyperlinks not launching

Feb 06, 2013

Hi, in my published swf, hyperlinks do not work in Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. These links link out to websites, not files. Nothing happens when I click on them—completely unresponsive. I've tested the swf both locally and on a server. They do worked when tested in IE9, however. I've looked for past threads with similar issues, and it sounds like some people have been able to resolve this once they uploaded the course to an LMS, but I intend to use the generated swf embedded in a page. Anyone have any advice? Thanks!

Hey Irene!

It sounds like the issue may be that you're trying to view the single SWF-version of your course, which isn't actually supported. Because Storyline produces a collection of files which are all necessary to view the content as its intended, viewing the single SWF file can result in unexpected behavior, including the loss of functionality.

Are you able to point to the story.html file and test that for correct functionality?

Hi Irene,

I think you're on the right track - viewing the content locally is going to cause issues with the functionality of hyperlinks and other features. It's definitely better to upload and test the content. If you were able to get this to work in IE9 after uploading, have you tried embedding it and testing it (assuming the page you plan to use can be located on a server or LMS)?

If you're still unable to get it working, are you able to share the course's .STORY file here? You can also send the file directly to our support team, if you'd like to keep the content private.

Thanks!
