I'm new to Storyline, after some years using Studio.
My issue: I cant get hyperlinks to work - simply put.
I'm sure I've set it up right - but when I click the link on the published slide nothing happens. The cursor changes when I hover over the link - it also tells me 'hyperlinks are not available' during the preview - so logic suggests it recognises the link is there - but it wont do anything.
I've tried linking to various things and nothing works.
I think you may have answered your own query here - 'hyperlinks are not available' during the preview. To confirm, are you viewing the slide by previewing it or have you published your project i.e. to Web?
One other thing to check is the validity of the URLs. When you added the hyperlinks, did you test them by clicking on 'Check URL/File' (the green tick icon) within the trigger wizard?
Just to clarify - I've tried the links after publishing and running it thru IE8. I've checked the URL validity (even just using google as a link).
The thing that is confusing is that the cursor changes - so its recognising it as a link - but it wont follow it. I dont get any pop-up blocking, no 'page not found' errors, no spawned windows - nothing.
I'm confused as to why the hyperlinks aren't working too but I have found this thread which seems to be a similar issue to yours.

I'm having the same issue with external links (pdf or work docs) not running in IE8 within a course I developed in Storyline. I know there is a known security issue in relation to this. However, if we go to “Tools-Internet Options-Security-Add the location as a trusted site-and then change the security setting to low,” then it works. Unfortunately, this is not something our clients want to do across the entire company, on every employee’s machine. Any help would be appreciated.
