Hyperlinks to files

Feb 14, 2019

Hi,

I have a quiz and in some of my "Correct" answer layers contain hyperlinks to supporting docs that are not working when published.  Can anyone tell me what am I doing wrong?   I have included the quiz scene here.  Also, I clicked "Retry Quiz" and it is not taking me back to the beginning of the quiz although the test scores goes back to zero.  Is retry suppose to work this way?  Thanks.

Thanks Alyssa~ I just want to add that I am reviewing the uploaded course on the LMS without "publishing" it yet.  On the Resource tab of my player, these documents are visible and I can open them.  It is only on the Correct answer layers that there are hyperlinks that keep coming up as 404 when opening. Hope that makes sense and I do appreciate the help as a first timer!

Hi Celia,

I think you're running into two issues. First, the file path to that PDF is quite long, at 201 characters. Publishing adds additional characters to it, and likely it then exceeds the character limit defined by Microsoft of 260 characters. I'd look at linking to files in a much shorter path.

Second, is that file path a local drive on your computer? I couldn't tell exactly, but if you're linking to a network or shared drive that could also cause issues with accessing the file. You'll find details about the file path naming and location in this article.

Lastly, if you've added these same files to the Resource tab, you could use the method described here to link to them on your slides.

Also, you mentioned testing in your LMS before publishing, and I think you meant publishing it from the LMS to be public to learners, but I wanted to check. Are you following the steps here to publish it for LMS and then uploading to your LMS environment?
