I haven't been able to import a powerpoint EVER!

Aug 10, 2019

I've been using SL for a month now, and I get the same error report every time I try to import a pptx.  All the members of my team can import my pptxs for me.  I've tried everything on the reason why list.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Soma! I know that has to be so frustrating, so I'm glad you've reached out to us.

I see you also opened a case about this issue, and Christopher offered to set up a complimentary remote assistance session with you to investigate this PowerPoint issue.

Would you be willing to schedule a session with him so we can help you sort this out?

Oh no, Tom! I'm so sorry you're having this trouble!

Our team is still working closely with Soma. I'm following the case along, and will share any relevant insight here!

In the meantime, this article lists the reasons why importing PowerPoint files can fail along with some solutions to try. If that doesn't help, could you help us with these key details?

  • What version of PowerPoint are you using?
  • Where are the PowerPoint files saved on your computer?
  • If it's easier to share a sample file with us, we're happy to test it with your permission. You can send it privately to us by using this link. We'll delete it after troubleshooting!

Hello Katie,

The good news is I can import powerpoint slides now. The bad news is I don't know what caused the issue.
I had followed the the possible fixes in the article two times through.
I had my computer totally reimaged and went through the article a third time.

After all that I still couldn't import powerpoint. But when I reinstalled powerpoint for the fourth time, everything is working fine now.

Quite happy it is working now. (just wish I knew what was wrong)

Thanks for your time and assistance.

Tom
