I'm going back to the beginning of my project to add some ''click here'' icons. I added them to the normal state of an object so when the state changes to visited, the ''click here'' icon is gone. When I verify my stes, the icon is just present on the normal state, but when I review my project, the icon stays there.
I'm having a little trouble recreating what you're describing so I'll need your help. Could you share your .story file so I can see first hand? Feel free to either attach it to this conversation or send it to me privately.
here's an attachment. I stripped it back to basics, but you can see that on the first example, I added an icone for people to know where to click. But when the state changes the icon is still there, even though in the states it's absent. The second example is what I did first, so you can see the original states.

Thanks for sharing your file, Stéphanie!
Objects in the initial Normal state will always appear with other states, like Hover and Selected.
To get around this, you can put the icon on the base layer. Then, add a trigger to hide the icon when the user hovers over the button.
Take a look at the changes I made in your file, and let me know if that will work for you!
This seems to work, I will try and implement this in the rest of my file. Thanks a lot for your help
Stéphanie
