I used the attached box icon on a couple of slides. Both times it caused the slide to have weird issues. The icon would show up on other layers of the slide and prevent audio and other icons from showing up on the layer. When I delete the icon the slide works fine.
I inserted the box icon, changed the colour and locked the aspect ratio. Then copy and pasted the box to create stacks etc. This seems to have caused the issue on next layer. It stops the timeline on the layer and box icons on the base layer show up.
When I deleted that box icon and replaced it with another one, and did the same colour change, locked aspect ratio, and copy/paste the icons the slide works fine.

Curious if you are able to replicate this behavior in a new file?
I was unable to replicate in a new slide.
Would saving as a picture work best for you when needing to manually hide that many items? Seems the grouped items may have been a bit tedious glancing at your timeline.

Can you tell me the steps to reproduce the issue you're seeing and the particular object that you feel is the culprit?
