Icons did not load, loading downtime, Menu tab behaving strangely

May 15, 2018

Dear Heroes,

I have been having endless issues with courses (created with AS2) that have been uploaded to our LMS whereby:

1. Some icons do not appear when they were supposed to (please refer to below image_001 and image_002 for more information)

2. Menu tab behaving strangely - drop-down did not appear (please refer to below image_003 for more information)

3. Course downtime - taking longer than usual to load

Has anyone experienced such behaviors? I have been in contact with our LMS support team and they did not experience this during their testing. Are there any bugs that I should be aware of?

Look forward to your expert help/advice.

Thank you, heroes!

Best regards,

Abby

Hi Abby,

Thanks for including the images here. It looks like you're viewing in Internet Explorer as well. Do you know what version of IE you're using? Also, do you know if you're IE version has Flash enabled?

If you're using IE and don't have Flash enabled, you could be viewing the HTML5 output of Storyline 2 which was limited in supported browsers for HTML5.

Let me know if that helps, or if you're seeing this across all browsers! It'd also be good to check that you published this course with the latest update of Storyline 2, Update 12.

Dear Ashley,

Thank you for your prompt reply!
At current, the IE version is:

Good idea about flash! Thanks for bringing this up. Please be informed that there are 2 scenarios in which the issues occurred:

1. Flash is not enabled - Menu tab behaved differently, images were missing.

2. Flash is enabled (line item - Macromedia Flash: Version 2) - Menu tab behaved normally but images remained missing.

One of the courses were published with the following Storyline 2:

And there are no updates:

As of today, we did not face any issues when using Chrome.

Hope the above information helps!

In the mean time, I will get Flash installed in one of the PCs that did not have it. Once installed, we will re-test.

Thank you, Ashley.

Best regards,

Abby

Hi Ashley,

I have installed the latest AS2 with Update 12. Soon after, I found out that the Menu tab issue was caused by Active X Filtering (turned on) in IE browser. I have turned it off, and it solved this issue.

On the contrary, we will republish some courses to see if the issues can be rectified.

Thank you for now, Ashley!
