If a user closes a course and reopens, can I make them go back to the start of the course?

Jan 15, 2021

Hello

I am creating a quiz where users will have one attempt at it and a time limit to complete it in.  As the timer does not carry on if a user exits the quiz and then resumes, I have come up with the idea of sending them back to the start of the quiz if they exit and then resume the quiz.  Is this possible?

The quiz contains 2 banks of 30 questions, so it is unlikely they'd get the same questions and so no advantage to doing this.  This is a compliance piece which is why I need to add certain restrictions to ensure users cannot just exit the quiz at each question, look up the answer and then come back to it.

Any advice?

Thanks in advance

Hello Ali!

I'm happy to help! It sounds like you're looking to customize your course's Resume Behavior.

There are three options in Storyline 360:

Prompt to resume

This option asks learners if they want to pick up where they left off.

Always resume

This option forces the course to open where learners previously left off. They won't see a prompt; the course will resume automatically.

Never resume

This option forces the course to start at the beginning, even if learners previously completed part of it. They won't see a prompt.

In this case, I'd recommend using Never Resume so your learners will always return to the beginning of the course when revisiting.
