If learner fails the quiz, they can't press the Next Button

May 24, 2018

Hello everyone!

So I've developed a quiz in Storyline. Currently if an user fails the quiz, I have a inserted a "Retry Quiz" button in my results page that redirects them back to the beginning of the quiz. That is all good.

However, the "Next" Button still pops up in the bottom right corner and as of right now the user could in theory press the "Next" button and it would take them to the next page even though they failed the quiz.

Is there a way of removing the "Next" Button or freezing it somehow to prevent a user from continuing on if they have not passed the quiz?

Thank you!

Hi Julia!

You can definitely disable the Next button until the learner passes the quiz. Here's how:

  • On the base layer, add a trigger to Change state of Next button to Disabled when timeline starts on the Results Slide.
  • On the Success layer, add a trigger to Change state of Next button to Normal when timeline starts on the Success Layer.

With those two triggers, the learner will not be able to move to the next slide unless they first pass the quiz. I hope that's helpful!
