Image change on zoom

Jan 10, 2019

I discovered this awesome feature owing to a bug in one of our courses.

Scenario: There is an image with zoom functionality toggled on. However, when one click the image, a different zoomed image is displayed.

Explanation: When an image is inserted, Storyline stores it as base image.

Now one needs to do the following:

* Edit the normal state of the image.

* Delete the image.

* Add another image instead.

Now, on publishing, the newly added image will be displayed. However, when one clicks the image, the original zoomed image will be displayed.

Hi Modassar,

Thanks for reporting this oddity to us! I'm following along with your steps, but I seem to be missing a piece as I can't recreate what you showed or described.

With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your project file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I’ll delete it when I’m done troubleshooting.

Thanks for sharing your file, Modassar.

I can see the behavior you are describing now.

Since you did not replace the actual image in your file (it still displays like the original image on the timeline/filename), this seems like the expected behavior.

You edited the Normal state on the original object but did not replace the image in the project.

If you do not wish to see this behavior, I suggest deleting the original image on the timeline vs. from the state's tab.
