I have a slide with objects, doors, these doors have a hover state and a visited state. When I hover them and take away the mouse (to restore) the image for a brief milisecond flickers.
See attached file for example, all doors except for the purple have been implemented this way.
Secondary problem
I have tried to solve this with layers, on hover show layer. This works, but I do have to hide the first object, and this never goes back to normal state when I release the hover.
see attached file, the purple door, have implemented with layers.
The flicker is very minimal however if you want to provide a visual memory I have added an image (pic 11) to your timeline of all open doors. Its not perfect but it does improve the effect somewhat.
Although very minimal, the flickering between state changes can be annoying and I too have found that adding the hover state to another layer can produce a smoother state change.
Using your file and working on the purple door, I have deleted the trigger on the base layer that hides the closed purple door - this was why the image didn't return to the normal state. Instead, I have simply hidden the original image from the 'Base Layer Objects' timeline, which is located under the timeline of each layer - this basically tells SL to not display this image when the layer is viewed.
I attach my version of your file, which I hope this makes more sense
Thank you Antony, you fixed my problem and taught me something new about hiding specific objects on base layer on layers. Thanks.
My workaround was actually to just publish it as html5, which decreased the loading times for each state, but I will actually switch to your suggestion with layers.

Hi,

Hope it helps,
Thank you, I like the solution, however it's not satisfactory since it will be another item to place in the exact correct location.
I wish that images would load faster in the flash format, after checking the html5 output it does not flicked as much for example.
Thanks
