Images and file sizes

Jan 29, 2014

Hi,

My project stipulates a maximum file size of 120kb per slide.

Firstly, is there any way of checking this as I author?

And secondly, considering images will have the greatest impact on the size of my .story file, I was wondering how Storyline handles images? I notice that some are output as SWFs and others images.

Thanks,

Andrew.

Hi Andrew,

First, I'm not aware of a way to monitor each slide's file size. The best way to do this would be to create a slide and then publish.

The reason I say to publish is because, depending on your quality settings, the compression may cut down the file size. The higher the quality, the more likely you are to have a larger file size. The lower the quality, the lower the file size.

Storyline publishes a number of files for your project and these will vary a little, depending on the options you select for publishing, and these include SWF files for Flash output.
