Images not appearing in Chrome

Feb 18, 2019

I have a project that when previewed shows all 6 of the images on my slide. However, when I publish to HTML5 and then view the project in Chrome (Version 72.0.3626.109) 4 of the 6 images do not appear. But, when I view it in IE, FireFox, or Edge, all is good.

Has anyone else run into this problem? I know that previous version sof Chrome caused some issues, but hadn't seen anything related to this newest version.

Hi again everyone,

I'm happy to share that an update to Storyline 3 is available today.

Enhanced: We added support for Google Chrome 72 and Safari 12.0.3. If objects disappear when viewing a course in these browsers, install the latest Storyline 3 update and republish your course.

Check out all the details on the latest release here.

Please let us know if you run into any issue after updating and republishing.

Either this broke again with the release of Chrome 73, or it was never fixed in the first place. My team is now experiencing this problem in a number of courses. Our buttons are disappearing. They're there in every other browser, just not Chrome. We have installed all Storyline updates, emptied our cache, patted our heads and rubbed our bellies all at the same time to no avail. We have also submitted a bug, but I'm writing here to make it clear that this is NOT fixed for us. We're using Storyline 360.

We purchased online training modules from KnowBe4 and we are experiencing issues with images not appearing when using Chrome. The images do appear in Firefox. I submitted a ticket to KnowBe4.  Since we were only provided the zip file, we do not have the ability to edit the source file in Articulate Storyline 360.

My supervisor, Jesus Diaz, came up with this work-around:

1. This behavior is happening primarily with larger displays and browsers that are filling those displays. Before the fix is released, you could advise users to shrink their browser windows if they're seeing missing or overlapped objects.
2. This issue is affecting courses that include a player set to scale to fill the browser window. There isn't another setting to allow scaling without this bug, currently.
3. The locked player should help with this issue, but I expect we'll have a fix out for this soon. I would hate for you to make this change and then republish your course again once the scaling is fixed.

Hi Corina,

As Phil mentioned, the latest update of Storyline 360, build 3.26.18364.0 includes a fix for the missing images in Chrome versions 73 and later. If your team is able to republish the courses using that update, you can upload to your LMS or web server and should see the images return.

I'd also suggest clearing your cache/history to ensure you're loading the latest update of the course.

If you still see images missing - please let me know! Our Support Team is at the ready to check your files and help!
