Images Shrinking in Selected State

I've checked the forums and can't find anyone else having this issue. But when I have a pick one which 2 pictures as buttons, the selected state gets dramatically smaller. It's so frustrating. I have to go in an edit each picture's selected state.

Now, I did a little testing and this did not happen when I insert a picture directly onto the slide. It only happens when I had one picture and then I right clicked 'change picture'. Unfortunately, I've done that with thousands of pictures. 

Isn't there any way to set the default action of the selected state for pictures? What is the point/value of change picture if it is going to distort the selected state so badly?

Has anyone had this problem and found a workaround? Is there something I'm missing?
