Import a commun Glossary in some project

Jan 28, 2014

(English is not my first language so please be kind)

I'm working on a glossary for a e-learning project in my University. The project include a lot of seperate activities made with Storyline and I want all these activities use the same glossary. How can I just link the glossary with all other Storyline's projects without copy/past all glossary slides in every other projects.

Thank for your help!

Hi Eric and welcome to the community!

First, I want to make sure that I'm understanding what you'd like to accomplish. It sounds like you have multiple projects, but you want to include the same glossary in all of these projects. Is that right?

There's a couple of ways you could do this. The easiest, in my opinion is to create a project file/template and import those other slides into that project. It sounds like you're manually copying and pasting the slides - you actually don't need to do this. There's a much faster way to import slides into a project file.

Here's how to import slides from an existing project, into another:

Importing from Another Storyline Project -E-Learning Heroes

What I would recommend is saving the Glossary project as your main .STORY file. Import the slides from an existing project, then use the "Save As" feature to save that project. When you're done, open the main .STORY file for the Glossary and add the slides for the next module and so on.

Does that sound like something that would work for you?

I guess my english is not so bad, because you understand very well my needs."

So if I summarize, you suggest to import all scenes and slides from the Storyline's project "glossary" In every other project who need to have acces to the glossary. I will try this.

Just to make sure : there is no way to just link two projects by giving a trigger to a button "jump to another Storyline project when the user click" ?

Thank you Christine for helping me

Hi Eric,

Certainly! Your English is perfectly fine :)

For your other question:

Just to make sure : there is no way to just link two projects by giving a trigger to a button "jump to another Storyline project when the user click" ?

Correct - there's no way to link from one file to another using a trigger. However, you could link to an uploaded project with a hyperlink. Or you could insert the project as a web object

Just let me know if you have any other questions.

Have a great day!

Christine
