Import PowerPoint template to Storyline - formatting not the same

Jul 13, 2015

Hi Articulate Community,

Recently I attempted to import Powerpoint templates, from the Heroes site, into Storyline. The template loses a good portion of it's formating. Is there something I need to do to ensure the PowerPoint formatting imports correctly into Storyline?

Thanks

I have imported a powerpoint file into SL2 and there is a dotted box in the lower right corner of most of my slides that I cannot select or remove.  It does not show in replays or publishing, but wonder if there is a way to get rid of it and is it taking up any file space in the program?  I've attached a jpg of the anomaly.  Thanks!

Hi Sylvia,

Thanks for sharing those here - take a look at the slide master # 2 in your .story file. There is a  rectangle there with no fill or line- so you're seeing it on the stage in case you needed to use it or know where it was, but since it's transparent you won't see it in preview/publish. I don't see it in the Powerpoint, so perhaps it was something that you added mistakenly to the Storyline file?

Ashley, that's it!!!  It was imported with powerpoint.  It was a clear rectangle over what was originally the Home button.  THANK YOU!  I am deleting it from the Master Slides and all is well!  Woohoo!  Clear or not the boxes take file space which I would like to keep to a minimum to get the fastest possible load times for the .swf files as the courses will be viewed in International areas where internet is slower than slow.  THANK YOU!!

Hi Sylvia,

If the master is being used, then you don't want to delete it as that'll impact the layout of your slides - and to help ensure you don't do that, if you right click on those to delete them you'll see the "delete" is greyed out. If you want to delete that master, you'll need to find the slides associated with it and change the master used there. I didn't see any indication of animation elements on the slides or masters - but if you're not seeing it or seeing it animate, I think you're safe. :)
