Recently I attempted to import Powerpoint templates, from the Heroes site, into Storyline. The template loses a good portion of it's formating. Is there something I need to do to ensure the PowerPoint formatting imports correctly into Storyline?
I have imported a powerpoint file into SL2 and there is a dotted box in the lower right corner of most of my slides that I cannot select or remove. It does not show in replays or publishing, but wonder if there is a way to get rid of it and is it taking up any file space in the program? I've attached a jpg of the anomaly. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing those here - take a look at the slide master # 2 in your .story file. There is a rectangle there with no fill or line- so you're seeing it on the stage in case you needed to use it or know where it was, but since it's transparent you won't see it in preview/publish. I don't see it in the Powerpoint, so perhaps it was something that you added mistakenly to the Storyline file?
Ashley, that's it!!! It was imported with powerpoint. It was a clear rectangle over what was originally the Home button. THANK YOU! I am deleting it from the Master Slides and all is well! Woohoo! Clear or not the boxes take file space which I would like to keep to a minimum to get the fastest possible load times for the .swf files as the courses will be viewed in International areas where internet is slower than slow. THANK YOU!!
Some of the slide masters indicate animations, but I can't find anything on the master slide, nor can I figure out how to eliminate the supposed animation. Also, there are a LOT of slide masters. Do I need them all. I don't have anything on them at this point and can I not add a master if needed?
You can remove slide masters as long as they are not in use - and I'd recommend that to keep file size down. Is there a particular master where you're seeing that it indicates animations?
In looking at the slide masters some of them say "used by x number of slides??? If I delete them will the slides be deleted? I think it is probably related to the home button from the powerpoint import, but I don't think I have anything on any of them??? Thanks so much!
If the master is being used, then you don't want to delete it as that'll impact the layout of your slides - and to help ensure you don't do that, if you right click on those to delete them you'll see the "delete" is greyed out. If you want to delete that master, you'll need to find the slides associated with it and change the master used there. I didn't see any indication of animation elements on the slides or masters - but if you're not seeing it or seeing it animate, I think you're safe. :)
I went through the slide masters and deleted all of the ones that said they were not being used by any slides...figured/hoped that would not be a problem. So far so good.
I imported one of the master slides that says there is an animation on it into a new .story file. Even with it saying no slides are using it it shows an animation, a fade I think, but ???
Yup - on the 1st master in that file, there is a slide transition of a "fade" - so not animating an individual element, but an overall slide "animation" or transition. You can remove it on the "transitions" tab.

Hi Nerina,
Are you following along with these directions in terms of importing your project? You'll also want to keep these tips in mind in regards to working with powerpoint and storyline.

Hi Sylvia,
From that image it's hard to say what it is - could you share a copy of the .story file here with us? Even just that one slide would work.
Ashley, here is one of the slides and the powerpoint slide it was imported from minus a couple of the graphics. Thanks so much!

Oops, forgot that too Ashley. Here are the files, both the original ppt file and the story file

No problem Sylvia - sometimes you just have to have a pair of fresh eyes. ;-)

You know, I was JUST wondering if that was what it was. Thanks :)
Glad that Ashley was able to assist you here Sylvia :)
