Import Quizzes from Quizmaker - Can they automatically format?

Feb 24, 2016

Hi there - we're converting our entire curricula (140 courses) to Storyline 2.  We love the larger buttons in the quizzes, especially for iPad.  When we import the questions, they default to a smaller radio button, and we need to go in and change each answer individually which is really time consuming.  Is there a way to set up the quiz template/player so that the questions automatically format to our preferred look?

Hi, Susan -- Thanks for reaching out and sorry for your troubles! Please verify the steps listed here for Importing from Quizmaker into Storyline 2, and you may also find this information to be helpful, as well:

Articulate Storyline DPI Support

Articulate Storyline requires Microsoft Windows to be configured with 96 DPI (dots per inch). If Windows is using a different DPI setting, you may experience erratic behavior, such as:

Elements of the application are misplaced or distorted.

Objects are misplaced or distorted when previewed or published.

Zoomed images don't work as expected.

Font sizes are incorrect after using the translation features.

Please let us know if that does the trick of if you still need additional assistance!

Thanks but this is basically how to import the questions which is straight
forward. What I'm after is a way to format the quizzes so that they all use
the same button style (large/blue) for example. Right now I have to go into
each question and change them. I'd like also to have a template for the
RESULTS screen. My whole goal is to automate this process as we have so
many quizzes.

Thanks for your follow up, Susan, and with respects to Importing the Quizmaker slide masters into Storyline as discussed here, may I ask if you've attempted to right-click on the quiz slides to see if the Master is available? Or perhaps you may want to check the Storyline Slide Master to see if it was imported?

It may also be helpful to provide your files in order to get a better idea of what you're experiencing. You are welcome to share your files privately here, or you can upload here in the forum, as well.

Hi, Susan -- I just wanted to touch base with you here regarding the ticket you submitted, #00740835. On 2/25/16, I replied via email from within your case asking if you might be able to share a bit more information. In case you have yet to receive that message, I wanted to note that on occasion, emails from Support are routed to a SPAM folder in error. Please check there if you haven't received it, and reply with the additional file requested if you still need help. :)

Hi Christie:

Sorry for the delay. I had a family emergency. Anyway...I've had some more time to work on this quiz import project.  What I'm trying to do is create a situation where I don't have to go into each quiz question and modify the formatting.  I was hoping there was a way to automate that.

Specifically I want the answer choice bullet to be larger and a different color, and I want the feedback to be NONE.  Is there a way to set that up?

I also want to use a specific RESULTS slide.  To do this I created a RESULTS slide as a single story - and import this into my project.  On the one attached, the result percentage did not display.  I am thinking this might be because I imported the slide, as opposed to using the one that automatically generates.

Here is a file for you to view.  I've already changed all the buttons and feedback on this one - but the results slide is failing.

Hi, Susan -- Thanks for your patience, and unfortunately, I am not aware of a way to accomplish what you have described with respects to automated bullet formatting. And I also found that your results slide is not functioning as desired, so in order to assist you further, I will set you up in a case with our Support staff for additional investigation. I'll be sure to follow along with their progress. :)
