Import scorm package for editing

Dec 30, 2012

Hi

I have published an item in scorm format but need to edit it. I have not for some reason saved it on Storyline. How can I import it back into Storyline from the zip folder so I can make changes and re publish it?

Hi -

There isn't a built in way to combine or import one into the other (either direction) but perhaps you could share a bit more about what you're looking to accomplish and we can offer you some additional ideas?

You could insert a published Rise course as a web object, as you could do with an web content - but it wouldn't necessarily be able to keep the responsive elements.

Hi again!

The Rise course if exported as LMS should also be able to track and show completion within your Cornerstone environment, so no need to insert it into a Storyline course for that alone. (If you did insert it into a Storyline course, we'd be tracking the Storyline course, not any of the Rise components so I don't think it would get you where you'd want to be either).

What SCORM option did you export for? Do you know if Cornerstone has a certain requirement in terms of the completion/success choices you use? Each LMS can behave a little bit differently with that, and there are four completion/success status you can choose from - in addition to Scorm 1.2 vs. 2004, and so on. I'd defer to Cornerstone to tell you which one to look towards using. In the meantime you could also look at testing out the course at SCORM Cloud which is an industry standard for SCORM testing. That'll help us know if there is something in the course reporting or how Cornerstone is reading it. This article will walk you through the steps for testing there. If it doesn't work there, we'll want to take a look at the Rise export files and you're welcome to share here in the forums or send them along to our team privately here.

Just following up and I see that you and Angelo were working on a file where the issue didn't occur again when tested in SCORM Cloud on a new file. I also see that he shared that the reporting options he choose were track via quiz results and reporting is set to Passed/Incomplete. If you need additional help feel free to respond to the email from Angelo and you can continue to work on this particular file.

Hi,

I am new to Storyline and this will be my first hands-on experience. Was wondering if you could help me out - I have the SCORM file (zip) and the source files for the images, and references for a particular course. It was built using an in-house tool, so there are no .story versions.

Can I import the SCORM files to Storyline to build the course anew and will this reduce the amount of re-work/re-design?

Given I am a novice here - any and every advice is welcome.

TIA.

P.S: we work on Storyline 3.

Hi, my organization previously had an account with Articulate and we had a number of published courses. We went through a reorganization and the account was shut down. Now I am trying to see if I can import the SCORM files from the original content to see if we can start an account again. Is it now possible to import SCORM files? Particularly if it was originally published on this platform?

Going through something similar. I am a former Rise user and have an account again. Because my accounts have changed, I don't have access to the old file in Rise. I do have a SCORM packaged output of the file that works if I put it into an LMS, that was built in Rise. But I want to edit that file. What options do I have to accomplish this? Thanks.

Hi there, Carla. Reiterating from another conversation we had for anyone else who has this question!

Your Rise 360 course contents are stored solely on the web platform. When you export the course for web or LMS, it creates a package of output that is similar to baking a cake from all of your ingredients. There isn't a "source file" to upload into your new Rise 360 dashboard.

I want to help, though! If your original Articulate 360 subscription or trial was active in the last 6 months, we still have your content saved. Reach out to my team here with those details, and we'll see if we can help move that content from one Articulate ID to the other.
