Imported audio issue

Feb 18, 2013

I am having an issue with some imported audio in storyline. The audio was saved as wav file, rendered as 16bit 44khz. It sounds perfect when I listen to it with itunes or any other media player. Also, when I played the audio in storyline or when I preview the slide the audio sounds fine.

However, when I open the audio editor and try to listen to the audio file to make edits it sounds broken/bumpy. Has anybody experienced this? how can I edit the file if it doesn't play as smooth as it should. I can not hear a complete word since the audio starts breaking.

I appreciate your feedback

Hi Angela,

It sounds like the editor is having some issues with playback of the audio file. Are all of the project files (including the audio file) on a network drive, USB drive or any other external source, by any chance?

1.  Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.

2. You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).

3.  Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

If you've checked all of the information above and you're still unable to hear the audio properly through the Audio Editor, have you tried inserting the audio into a new Storyline course? If not, please open a new, blank course and try importing the audio. Do you have the same problem in the new file?
