It's possible that either the Powerpoint file or the Storyline file has become corrupt. One solution for a corrupt Storyline file could be to import your Storyline file into a new project: Importing From Another Storyline Project.
To prevent future corruption, you'll want to follow these general guidelines:
Work on your local drive (your C: drive).Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters(for example C:\Articulate).
Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.
It could be that something happened to that Powerpoint file - why are you using a back up copy? Do you not have the original? Also, you'll want to make sure that the ppt file is also on your local drive, not off of a network or USB drive.

If this behavior continues on multiple files, you may also want to conduct a repair of your Storyline software.
Thank you! The material I am importing from a power point presentation comes from a backup...might this be the problem?
