Importing a published project

Sep 14, 2016

Hello;

I am new to StoryLine and one of my first assignments is to take a course that was created in StoryLine 2 and place into our LMS.

The problem is:

  1. I do not have the original project file for Storyline
  2. The published project does not contain any SCORM data files (the manifest file or adlcp_root_v1p2... and so on)

What I need is:

  1. To be able to publish this to an LMS and have the SCORM function working, IE when the user completes the test in the course to then have the course registered as completed. (Currently users need to manually adjust the status from In Progress to Completed.

My thought was to create a new Storyline project and maybe import the current files or somehow create a frame that I could put the published course into and re-publish. If that makes sense.

Would anyone have any suggestions as to what I could do?

The platform is ILIAS.

Hi Tom- Welcome to Heroes and thanks for taking the time to reach out to us here. There isn't a way to do exactly what you're looking to do. In order for your course to be functional and have it fully trackable in an LMS environment, you would need to have access to the project files and Publish them for LMS. Making edits to the published output isn't something we can support, nor is it possible to import slides from a published output into a new .story project file.

However, if it's a published for web output- an option that may work for you is if you host that output in a web environment and then insert it as a web object in a new course in Storyline 2. You'd still be able to track the completion of the new course, but you still would not be able to track any quiz results in the course linked through the web object.
