We have a range of bespoke characters that we would like to use within Articulate Storyline but do not know what happens to the level of functionality when using imported images, rather than the character bundles provided. Will the triggers and buttons work in the same way?
Essentially we would like to animate our bespoke characters, but do not know how or if this would work.
Any help or directions to existing tutorials would be muchly appreciated!
You'll still be able to assign triggers to you're inserted images - but things such as the built in states will not be automatically added. You can create states for the images, just as if you'd inserted a normal image/picture - but I don't believe the animated set up could be in a state or have states assigned to it.
Hopefully some of our super heroes will be able to pop in and share some of their expertise here.
Hi Andres, I've actually inserted animated characters (flash) into Storyline and have had no issues. The only limitation to this is would be that it won't work with HTML5 output. There are tricks to making it work with triggers and buttons so you'll have to be specific on what you are attempting to do.
Oppenheimer, with Firefox only controlling about 17% percent of the browser market, I wouldn't bet on them being a final say on Flash. IE still controls a slightly bigger share and Chrome controls about half.
But to get around the HTML5 not playing flash, I started animating the characters with the same background as the slide and outputting it as a movie. Here is an example I did in After Effects.

I would recommend steering away from Flash imbedded in projects if possible. With Mozilla shutting down Flash player the writing is one the wall.
Thanks Jerson and M for sharing your thoughts here
