Importing Foreign Language Captions

Jul 26, 2018

I am interested in collecting a set of tips and guidelines for importing captions in a foreign language. For example, are there accent marks that are known to cause an import to fail. If someone translates the headings in the VTT file, does that mess up Articulate? If your translated caption files will not import at all, what can you do? (I have this last problem - Spanish translations do not seem to upload.)

Hi there, Bill.  You should be able to follow the same procedure for importing translated closed captions into Storyline. The linked tutorial talks about what font formatting is supported, and that your caption files should be encoded for UTF-8 character standards.  As long as your caption file has the same name as your media file and is stored in the same folder, it will import automatically when you insert your media.

It sounds like you've had at least once instance of it not working for you, though.  Could you share the files with us here with some details about what you're seeing?  We're happy to help!
