I think something else is wrong. I am using both Presenter and Storyline. Both are version 13. When I publish in presenter, all is wonderful and I do not get any errors. It is only when I try to also move the content to Storyline that the issue arises. I have tried importing the interaction and it won't play after publishing, I get the error "the web object feature on this slide has been disabled while viewing locally because your browser does not support it". So, I thought at the issue may be HTML5 issue, so I followed your instructions on inserting the interaction as a web object, but it still won't play. Do you have any other suggestions.....I am desperate!!! I have a deadline and I don't know what else to try.

Kare

I can't say I follow your comment about uploading the content to test. Here are the steps I've followed:
1) Open new project
2) import my Presenter PPT. It contains 1 interaction created using ENGAGE 13 and 1 Quiz created using Quizmaker 13.
3)Import ENGAGE.intr file. Makes no difference what I do from here on out, the ENGAGE.intr file will not play completely using the ENGAGE Tools preview player. I can only view the entire interaction inside ENGAGE 13.
4) Publish: I published with all boxes clicked and only the last box clicked, no difference. If I publish as a zip file, unzip the file, and double click on presenter.html the interaction can't be played. The error message saying it is incompatible with web browser is displayed.
Unzipping the published file and clicking presenter.html is viewing locally and this is why you are experiencing difficulty I think. You need to upload to the intended environment - your LMS if that or to your web server if publishing to web.
If you view an Articulate Storyline course on your local hard drive (or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive), you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features to fail. To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. See this article for details.
I had someone who worked for me a year and she did all her publishing using Articulate Storyline 13 and did not have this problem. My employees were able to view on their local computers and I did not need to host the finished project in my LMS or put it into a box, create a CD, or anything. We've been doing this for the past year....but she is gone.
There must be some software that needs to be uploaded that gets around this issue.
If your colleague previously published for CD or local drive, then the users could have accessed everything within Studio '13 (Presenter, Engage and Quizmaker) while clicking on a link such as the presentation.html. They wouldn't have needed to have it burned to a CD, just access the files on their local drive.
If you were publishing for web or LMS, and also testing it locally - it may have worked, but it's not what we'd expect based on browser security and how it may block or not appropriately play Flash content. You can read more about that here and if it also stopped working recently, perhaps you're using a newer, updated browser?
As for the Storyline set up, since the Engage element is included as a web object (if you import it in directly using the .intr file or a published copy of it) it won't appear during preview or viewing the published output locally, similar to other web objects and other content that may be blocked by Flash locally.
Have you looked at uploading it either to a web server or LMS to test how it behaves there?
My need is to view the Storyline project on a local PC. I found an article called: Articulate Updater for Chrome 44 or later and tried it. I have limited success. The first slide in the ENGAGE interaction works and you can't advance the slide any further. I tried uploading the zip file to our network server but after you unzip it and try to play the project the same issue arises with the Engage interaction.
i just published to a CD and it worked.....so, that is what I'll do moving forward. You've been great!
If you need to access locally using the publish to CD option is the recommendation - and just ensure that anyone who is using that set up is able to have access to the entire contents of the published output folder.
As for the Articulate updater, that was for an issue with the published output that did not play well in a recent update of Chrome.
You do have some SW that when loaded allows people to publish to Web and still view locally. My employee installed it on her computer a year ago and she got it from your site. Unfortunately, she is no longer at GE and I am unaware of the precise file she loaded.

Hi Karen!
You'll need to import the interaction as well. Please keep in mind they are not supported in the HTML5 output.

Hi Karen!
Let me first mention that responding to the forums via e-mail attaches your signature, but you are welcome to pop in and edit if needed.
Secondly, are you uploading the content to test? Sounds like you may still be previewing or viewing local which explains the error you are seeing.

5)Delete the ENGAGE.intr slide that was imported.
6)Insert blank slide
7)Insert web object. This works fine.
8)Publish. Same results as above item 4

Hi Karen!
You mention publishing to the web and testing. I wonder if she was simply using Tempshare?
