Importing Quizes and Variables

Aug 07, 2018

Hi

I'm currently creating a course which is being packaged for learners in multiple locations.  Due to this the content can change slightly depending where the learner is based and so I have 9 different versions of the course in one .story file with a slide with the different locations listed which then directs the learner to their individual version of the learning.  To do this I have completely built one version of the course and will duplicate it and then make the small changes needed for each location before merging them all by importing them one by one into one .story file.

As part of the course there are 5 quizzes per location that need to be completed.  These have been built in the normal way using quiz slides and the master copy works perfectly.  As part of Storyline 3 you are able to rename the default quiz variables so my plan is to rename each to the individual locations to create unique variable names.  I've done this as I've found if you try and import more than one copy of the same quiz with the same variable name only the last quiz in the .story file will register as a pass and any other copies will always say the quiz has failed even if you get all questions right.

I have just completed a test and even though I renamed my quiz variables when I imported my two test quizzes the variable quiz names were overwritten.  I have created two test quizzes which probably show this better than I'm trying to explain.

Quiz 1 has two questions and a results slide, I've renamed the variables to have the prefix quiz1 in front of them.  Quiz 2 is a copy of Quiz 1 but I have changed the quiz variables to have the prefix quiz2.  However when I have combined them in the Quiz Combined file the variable names are overwritten by the quiz2 ones strangely.  Could anyone shed any light onto why this may be happening please, I've got 45 quizzes in total to place into one .story file and I don't want to have to manually create each as there is a lot of design work for them.

Great news, folks!  We just released another update for Articulate 360!

Remember the issue where renamed variables would revert to their original names when importing slides into another project? That issue is now fixed!

Just launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button for each application. Details here.
