Importing the quizmaker slide masters into storyline

May 15, 2013

Hi

I have imported a quiz from quizmaker into storyline so that i can provide better functionallity to the users but it has not imported the slidemaster formatting which was quite detailed.

Is there a way of getting this into storyline without having to recreate it all again?

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, Alecia!

Have you tried right-clicking on the quiz slides to see if the Master is available? Or have you checked the Storyline Slide Master to see if ti was imported?

You may want to take a quick look at our tutorial on slide masters:

Using Slide Masters

If it's not available at all in the Storyline course, please make sure you're importing from and to local project files:

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

If the problem continues, are you able to share the .QUIZ file for the Quizmaker project? I'd be happy to take a look and see if I can get the quiz to import properly with the Master into a Storyline course.

Thanks!

Hi Christine

The slide master is definately not importing. I have also tried moving it as suggested and there is no change. I did try to attach one of the quiz slides to this reply so you could take a look but it doesnt seem to be working. It is quite large, is there a limit to upload a document?

Hi Alecia,

Thanks for the file! I tried importing the Quizmaker file into Storyline this morning and it looks like it's pulling over the purple (the Master that's applied to the active question in the quiz) and the green (the Master used for the results slide) into the Storyline course.

Can you take a look for me, and tell me if this is the same thing you're seeing?

The characters seem to be showing up for me in this file, as well, so I just want to make sure I'm not missing something.

Thanks!

Hi Christine

Thanks for testing that. The file you have done is correct. However, when i try to convert it the only part it is pulling across is the content and the characters.

Perhaps i am doing it wrong. This is the steps i am following to import the quiz into storyline. Can you please let me know if you are doing it a different way?

Open articulate storyline - select import quizmaker - choose the quizmaker to import - select import

Thanks again for your help.

Hi there Alecia,

Correct - I'm using the import option from the Articulate menu to import the Quizmaker slides.

You are working locally, correct?

Strange that it's not showing up for you when you import, if so. Can you try creating a new Quizmaker file, add some content to the Master and see if it imports properly, please?

Thanks!

Hi Christine

I am working locally.

I tried creating a new one with some new content in the slide master as suggested and that is transferring fine when i am doing the import.

I didnt create the original quiz i am trying to import, would that be making a difference? It just seems weird that it is not working for me.

Hi Alecia,

I don't think that would be an issue, if so, I don't think it would've worked for me either.

Wonder if it may have something to do with the file name. I did rename it (the original file you uploaded contains some spaces) before I imported it. Not sure if that will make any difference, but might be worth a shot.

Thanks!
