Inbuilt search is not responding to some words.

May 19, 2015

Hi all,

I'm facing a problem with the search option available in storyline 2.

Please use the link  below to preview the course and test it yourself.

If I'm searching for the words "Products","Service" or "Industries"(These words exists in all the slides) when the slide loads, the search does not respond.

but

If I search for these words after the first search (words other than Products, Service and Industries) it responds.

Has anybody else faced such issue?

Please help me resolve this problem.

Thanks!

Hi, Aman -

Sorry to hear you are experiencing difficulties. There are a few things we can try to address common issues. Please make sure you are working locally as described here, and you may want to try importing the file into a new file. If you are still having issues, you might want to try to repair Storyline.

In addition, please ensure that you are using the most recent update available. Click here for Update 5. If issues persist, you are welcome to share your file here so we can take a look, or you can submit a support case if that would make you more comfortable.

Hi Christie,

Just for your information: I'm Using the latest update of Storyline 2 (Update 5: 1505.515)

I have found the root cause and the solution to the problem above.

What I had done is instead of having the player generated menu headings.

I used custom headings as asked by the client and that is why the search could not find the words that are in the menu as it only searches for the words that are in the headings generated automatically by the storyline player.

Ideally this should not happen, if there is a provision for adding custom menu headings then those should be searchable also.

I hope this problem will be considered and solved in the upcoming update.
