Indipendently working timeline

Jun 27, 2013

Hello guys,

I'm working on a project that includes a video. Since this video shows a teacher, I need her to advance (continuously) through various slides (powerpoint imported) while I put schemes and text, related and synched to her speech. The video is quite long (approx. 20min) and I can trim it for each slide, but the resulting effect is quite far from good: I have a "stop & go" effect since I need to stop and restart her on every slide jump.

Is there a way to achieve my goal? I think I need to know how to play my video continuously from the start to its end, independently from slide advancing.

Cheers,

Guido

Hi Guido. Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

There really isn't a built-in way to play a video across multiple slides or scenes a the moment.

However, I did want to share a suggestion that might work for you. You mentioned that the video is about 20 minutes long, but what type of content are you working with on the slides? Maybe you could keep all of the content in one slide and put the video in its own layer. You can show this layer throughout the course and have the additional content come in from additional layers.

Now, I'm not sure if that's something that will work for you, but I thought maybe this would improve the quality of the video and hopefully make it appear a little less "chopped up" :)

Good luck with the project!
