Input on Project, web page web objects, youtube rules

Dec 16, 2014

Hello all... When I started in this business, I was the video guy. We had an organization that was responsible for Distance Learning for the entire state of Wyoming. A centralized warehouse of information and support. We had a director, Instructional Designers, graphics, video and support staff. Well, after a political nightmare, I am the last man standing.

So....... I have to do it all. I don't mind, really, as I enjoy the work, but it's a learning experience. I use Articulate Storyline and the state maintains a Moodle instance for the LMS.

A couple questions... what are the rules for embedding a YouTube video in a Government Agency training? There's no money changing hands to use the training.

Secondly, I am having problems with webpage web objects. At this point, it seems they are only showing up in IE on a PC. I set them to "display in slide," as I think some people get lost when you open a new window, and popup blockers can be an issue.

Finally, as I am teaching myself "Instructional Design," I was wondering if anyone would go through this course and give me some feedback. I was given a plain white powerpoint with the basic content. I researched and added the videos, images and so on...  Are there any missed opportunities for interactivity?

Course is here:  https://25447ffa0387224d72966e40d166f48cabca460e.googledrive.com/host/0B4SsDqC9CMbLSUlaUk1RWXZ1dFE/story.html

Thanks in advance! I ditched Captivate because of the incredible support and discussions that come with Articulate... I appreciate you all!

Matt

Hi Matt,

In regards to your second question - where are you testing the published output? Testing it locally could cause you to encounter security restrictions and elements of the content to not play as expected as detailed here. You'll want to test it within the intended environment as described in that article where there are a few free options for testing.
