Just wondering if anyone can assist. I work on Mac OS 10.9.5 using Parrallels / Windows 10 to operate Articulate Storyline 2. I understand that youtube no longer allows videos to be embedded via the Insert>Video function in Storyline 2 so found that the work-around is by inserting as a web object.
The problem I have though is every time I try and do this it crashes Storyline 2 with the vague message attached.
Hi, Ben -- So sorry to hear that you are having difficulties! It sounds like you have already reviewed this information on the recommended steps to add a YouTube video, so since you are experiencing crashing, you may want to run through the repair steps in #2 here. Please let us know if that helps or if you still need additional assistance!
I'm seeing the same issue this morning. Only crashing when embedding YouTube as a Web Object using the steps in the add a YouTube video link above. It's also crashing when referring to Youtube.com without a video attribute referring to a single video. Windows 10, if that makes any difference. Same symptoms that Ben is seeing above.
Thanks for letting us know you are having the same issue here, Steve, and I am reaching out to others in the team to see if I am able to provide more details on what may be taking place. I'll share any updates I can as soon as possible, and your patience, as always, is appreciated! :)
My workaround, for now, is to use a web object stub for the embed. Here's an example. I modified the embed code to expand the iframe to 100% wide and tall so it'll scale the video to the web object dimensions.
Hi, Ben and Steve -- I wanted to share that I also experienced the same behavior on my Windows 10 VM (via VMware Fusion), so I am going to submit a ticket with our QA team for additional investigation. I will be sure to share any additional updates or ideas here in the thread as I would receive them.
In the meantime, if either of you would like to submit your Error Logs to our Support Engineers, please feel free to check out this information to do so. Thanks so much for bringing this matter to our attention. :)
Hi, Carrie -- Thanks for reaching out, and I wanted to share an update on the ticket that was in with our QA team for review:
"This is an issue stemming from Flash version 20.0.0.267. Running a clean Win 10 VM in Parallels with Flash V 18.0.0.203 there are no problems with web objects linking to youtube embedded videos. Once Flash updates to 20.0.0.267 SL crashes when attempting to add those web objects."
Thanks for your responses and the update from the QA team. Can I get that update though with a little less jargon? I'm trying to figure out whether there is a solution in that update or is it just the team's restatement of the issue?
Hello, all -- After I provided the latest update from QA, I received the following additional information, so please run through the steps listed and let us know if you continue to experience issues!
Adobe and Microsoft released information that Windows 10 has been updated. Install the latest Windows updates to resolve it.
Go to the Start menu and click Settings.
When the Settings window opens, click Update & Security.
Click Check for updates and allow the latest updates to install.
Reboot your computer and test your Articulate software again. We're waiting for additional information in regards to Windows 8.

This is so strange that it only crashes with Youtube videos. Even just the Youtube site link crashes it out;) That darn Flash 20.0.0.267!
