Inserted pictures automatically have shadow effects

Nov 26, 2013

Hi all,

When I insert a picture, either pasted from my clipboard, or by using Insert/Picture, it has some Shadow effects automatically applied that I don't want.  Is there a way to have the Shadow effects all default to zero?  I have been manually changing each inserted picture thus far but now have run into an issue I can't fix - when I insert a screen recording and sometimes manually grab a screenshot with printscreen, those screenshots have the default Shadow effects and I can't remove them.

Thanks for any help fellow Forumites!  And thanks Ashley Terwilliger for being my sample model (attached).

Hi Cheryl,

I always wanted to be a model!

In the image you showed, it looks like there is a transparency also added to the object, but I don't see a shadow on that image. I tried to set up my image the same as you had, and included the image here. I don't see a shadow on the image I've included, but I see some blurriness too it (based on what I set).

Hi Ashley,

Yes you're right, there's some transparency too.  That's what's happening to my inserted pictures by default, yuck.

Is there a way to have all options in the Shadow tab default to zero (or blank as shown below) when inserting pictures?   It's time consuming to alter the Picture Effects every time I insert a picture.  There must be something I'm missing.

Thanks!

Cheryl

Hi Cheryl,

If it's only happening in one file, you'll want to confirm that it's a local project file that you're working with. Working off a network or USB drive could cause odd behavior, and even cause file corruption.

Also, if it's just one file you could try importing it into a new Storyline project to see if that resolves any of the issues with the file.
