Inserting a video and how can user trigger it to play....

Oct 20, 2017

Hi,

I have 4 pictures on a slide that i want to trigger a different video for each picture as the user clicks on each one.  Do I need to add a different layer for each trigger on each of the photos?

And if I have youtube videos I'm assuming I cannot use them  Instead we need to use vimeo?  Do I need to have the user click on a picture to take them to another slide with the video on it, or can the video play from one click on the picture by using a different layer?

Thoughts welcome!

Hello Jennifer,

Yes, you can add a new layer that only has the video on it then on the base layer have a trigger on a picture to reveal the video.
The video layer can be empty and just the video so it does look like only the video pops up.
You can then add a close button to move back to the base layer and have the video disappear.

Here is a great demo on how to accomplish this: https://community.articulate.com/series/getting-started-with-storyline-360/articles/articulate-storyline-360-tutorial-how-to-add-interactivity-with-triggered-layers

For your question about Youtube videos, yes you can use them
