Inserting other Storyline files into a lightbox

Jul 15, 2013

Hello,

I just learned how to use lightboxes in Storyline and I am pretty excited to start using them in my eLearning.  I am wondering if we are able to put other Storyline files into a lightbox.  For example, we create eLearning modules that sometimes refer back to a module created earlier.  It would be nice to be able to have some of those modules available in the lightbox, instead of linking to them or putting them in the resources section.  However, when I tried to do this, all I got was a blank screen, with the spinning wheel.

If this can be done, can someone please walk me through it?  Thanks in advance!

Technically it is possible to display other Storyline files in a lightbox, here is a example. All you need to do is:

1. Add a 'placeholder' slide to your Storyline project that holds a webobject with the URL of the other Storyline project.

2. Add an object, e.g. a button with a trigger on one of your slides to display this 'placeholder' slide in a lightbox.

While this a technically possible, I wonder how practical it would be. External content displayed in a lightbox may appear 'squeezed' like in my example. Also, there seems to be an issue with the red X button in the upper right corner being slightly overlapped by the external content in the lightbox. This may or may not be an issue for your project.
