Inserting screen recordings into callout / marker

Jul 02, 2014

Hi

I'm trying to replicate one of the techniques used by Tom in one of his posts from earlier this year. In this post he uses a marker with a callout, and inside the callout is a screencast. I've tried to do this but there doesn't seem to be any way to insert an Articulate Storyline screen recording into the callout. The only option is to insert a 'video from file' but there seems to be no way to save the screen recording anywhere on my computer. I was able to do a screen recording in SnagIt and insert that into the callout but it won't play on Ipad (because it is flash?).

Here is the link to the piece where Tom demonstrates this technique.

Hope you can help.

Thanks!

Hi Anuj,

Storyline screen recordings can be exported as a MP4 if you've used the video on a single slide. The step by step recording and the generated captions aren't something that you can export as a video file - although lots of community members have looked at using a second instance of Storyline  to conduct a screen recording of the step by step slides playback and export that Video or record using Replay which will publish that version to an MP4.

Yes, I am aware of this and I am doing the same, but don't you think it adds extra 2 steps to the workflow and captivate makes it much easier, I think it should be added to storyline 360 as a feature

Hi Anuj,

We did get it - and our team will be in touch if they have any questions about that Feature idea.

We don't have a public tracking or voting system for feature requests, but if an item like this makes the roadmap we'll share in E-Learning Heroes and you may see it featured on the “What’s New” page. Thanks!
